Description
This course presents practical communication skills and conversation strategies needed for health professionals
working with deaf clients. The course goal is to provide students with the skills to communicate in a wider array of
situations, to further develop their language fluency and to advance their level of comprehension of ASL in culturally
appropriate ways. Syntax and semantics are incorporated throughout the context, with an emphasis on not only
developing question and answer skills but also in gathering and sharing the kinds of insightful information that is
necessary between healthcare professionals and deaf patients.
