I just wanted to let you all know that I thought the discussion exchange in Week 4 was fabulous.  
Week 5 shows us the world on the cusp of a new era.  Look for these developments and how they have shaped the world into the one we experience today: 
Encounters between the West and Asia, and reactions by China, Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia;
  • Changing relationships between citizens and the state
  • The impact of colonies on the parent state and the colonized peoples
  • Change in power structures due to revolutions (in American colonies and in France)
  • The effect of one dominant political figure in Europe: Napoleon
