Message from the faculty and staff...

The faculty and staff of Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) are pleased to have you join us! We look forward to you engaging our learners and sharing your knowledge and expertise with them. New faculty members are an important part of healthcare education. You bring advanced education, practical skills, and real world experiences to our classrooms. Your expertise compliments other faculty members, ensuring that our graduates have the depth and breath of knowledge to be successful in their fields of study.

 

Our learners develop and maintain a variety of relationships during their educational careers. But faculty-student relationships have often been identified as those that most impact learning. We hope that you will find your relationship with our students to be meaningful and fulfilling, and that your experience here will be an exciting addition to your career.

 
We appreciate the time and effort you will dedicate to our learners and to the College. Your professional opinion is important and we will rely on your subject expertise to provide an empowering educational experience. You will be called upon to act as resource person, mentor, role model, coach, and evaluator and we will support you in your decisions and interactions with students. Please evaluate each student honestly and with an open mind, and keep lines of communication open with both learners and with your faculty coordinator. Remember to contact the coordinator assigned to your course if you have any questions or challenges. You can also contact the program director.  

We all know that any effective program continually evaluates purposes, processes, and outcomes (these are our pillars!). Therefore, as you evaluate your learners they will evaluate you. Also, your coordinator will contact you shortly after the course concludes. Use this time  to discuss any concerns or suggestions that you may have. You will find that our faculty coaches are open to any conversation that improves and strengthens the NMC learning experience.

Online Adjunct Faculty Handbook

This short course is an opportunity to engage the Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) vision and mission and learn about our history, programs, and core curriculum. You will engage in activities that will acquaint you with the our learning management system (My.Methodist) and discover resources to support your success as well as that of your learners. Below you will find a screen capture segment that introduces you to this course and how to navigate it.

This six module course will require approximately four or five hours to complete. In each module you will find much information about our College and leadership as well as our mission and identity (Educated Citizen) as well as some interactive activities. In Module 6 you will complete a short quiz and reflective exercise. At that point a certificate of completion will be transmitted to the facilitator(s). At the end of this course you will be eligible to begin teaching for NMC!
