This week we will introduce what a spreadsheet is, as well as the basics of formatting spreadsheets.  You are encouraged to read the lecture notes while watching the video tutorials and carrying out the steps simultaneously.  You will also practice these steps in the corresponding homework assignment, then view the homework video and evaluate your own performance.

1 What is a Spreadsheet

- Your assignment for the first lesson is to open a new spreadsheet, and recreate this document.
- After completion, save the excel file as YourName Week1a Assignment, and submit via the appropriate dropbox located under the 'Coursework' tab located at the left of the course page.

Review the homework "solution" tutorial, complete the self evaluation, save the file as YourName Week1a Evaluation and submit via the appropriate dropbox under the 'Coursework' tab located at the left of the course page.
Note: each self evaluation is the same, so if you keep the blank file somewhere accessible, you do not need to download it after every assignment.

2 Formatting Basics

- Format the data set to your level of satisfaction ~
- Adjust the row height in the first row, and wrap the text in the cell C1 because there is so much.
- Include borders, font adjustments, alignments, and merge the name cells together to form a single name heading.
- Sort the data as you see fit, then include Dr. Evil into the data set, who was treated for 5 days.
- Save the file as YourName Week1b Assignment and submit via the appropriate dropbox located under the 'Coursework' tab located at the left of the course page.
