Description
This course will provide an introduction to basic economic concepts important for the study of healthcare economics.
Topics covered in this course include how healthcare differs from other goods and services, historical trends in
healthcare expenditures, economic analysis of the Affordable Care Act, determinants of supply and demand for
healthcare, health insurance and health insurance markets and basic economic evaluation methods. Alternative
healthcare systems and reforms are also explored.
