Description

Students in this survey course will explore the history of the United States from European discovery and settlement of
North America to the end of Reconstruction in 1877. It will analyze change and how it was fostered, the development
of American institutions, the role of ideas in our nation’s evolution, The class will further encourage students to think
historically to reflect on these experiences and communicate their understanding of political, economic, social and
cultural history of the United States.
Credits: 3.0
Prerequisites: Determined bymajor and COM 101
