Description

Students in this survey course will explore the history of the United States since the end of Reconstruction in 1877. It
will analyze the evolution of the nation through changes associated with modernity, the development of new American
institutions, and the role of ideas in social, cultural and diplomatic transformation. The class will further encourage
students to think historically to reflect on these experiences and communicate their understanding of political,
economic, social and cultural history of the United States.
