Description
This non-clinical elective course familiarizes students with a foundation of pain concepts and management. Students
will be introduced to pain management concepts that include, physiology of pain, types of pain and pain
assessments/tools. Students will also examine variables that influence a person’s pain perception and diverse therapies
to manage pain. Students will apply the legal/ethical aspects of pain management to concepts such as addiction,
dependence, pain tolerance and the opioid crisis. Credits: 3.0 Prerequisite this should be the link
