Description
This course focuses on the synthesis of humanistic/scientific principles and research in the care of the complex client
across the lifespan, with special emphasis on the older adult. Students use critical thinking skills to examine
professional nursing care in the areas of health promotion, risk reduction, disease prevention, illness/disease
management and rehabilitation. The course is concept driven to include holism, including spirituality, sexuality, end-oflife, and economics. The role of the professional nurse as a case manager, in meeting the mutually identified needs of
the client, is evaluated.
