Description
In this course, students explore the role of the informaticist in the protection of the patient. Regulatory, legal, and
ethical factors affecting healthcare, social media, downtime, and disaster recovery are examined. Health Information
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies and potential threats to patient privacy are evaluated. Students
determine the impact of data security, threats, and integrity in various settings.
